Rochester HOPE For Pets

Paw print and heart shape iconDonations help cover the costs of life-saving veterinary care for pet owners who truly can’t afford it.  We all love our pets, and they are family! However, not everyone can afford to pay for veterinary care. No one should have to lose a beloved pet simply because they lack the ability to pay.

Rochester HOPE For Pets is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization funded by the generosity of private donors.

The Origins of HOPE

Back in 2008, an abandoned Jack Russell Terrier was brought into Pittsford Animal Hospital. The staff worked together to raise money to help save the dog they named, “Hope.” Hope went on to make a full recovery, there were funds left over, and Rochester Hope for Pets was born.

Since 2008, Rochester Hope for Pets has been able to create many programs that help owners and their pets in the Rochester community.

  • Spay-it Forward is a grant-funded program that works with Rochester Community Animal Clinic to offer low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for owned pets in the Rochester area.
  • The Community Fund for Feral Cats is another grant funded program that offers funds to community trappers for TNVR surgeries for feral cats.

The largest part of our mission is helping owners keep their pets when unexpected medical or surgical expenses arise by offering funds to help them pay. Veterinarians in the Rochester area and beyond have been practicing veterinary medicine for decades, and have witnessed, understood, and appreciated the special sustaining bond that develops between pets and their owners. Unfortunately, this rewarding experience has a dark side.

They witness first-hand the heartbreak, stress, and anxiety when pet owners surrender or, even worse, euthanize their beloved companion animals simply because they lack the financial means to pay for medical and surgical care.

Rochester Hope for Pets is profoundly saddened by these cases every day. Our goal is to help these families and save the lives of their beloved companion animals. Our primary mission is to be able to offer financially needy owners the much-needed financial assistance to save their pets lives and give them a better quality of life.

We want to end pet surrenders and euthanasia because of the inability to pay. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and we exist only because of generous donations from individuals in our community.
